Dreams of the Machines (Time Rats Book 2)
When a sexbot turns sentient, can the clock be turned back to avoid the Apocalypse?
I reviewed Lexi Revellian’s first Time Rats book here. She has created an excellent universe with characters who continue to be developed in this second book, although I think you could read this one first and be fine.
In this universe, when things go wrong in the timeline, the authorities intervene. Time travel is accomplished via highly classified watch-like devices. A few of them have escaped into the wild, though.
Our hero, a rogue former time cop, and our heroine, a scientist from present day (how they got together is covered in that first book), find themselves in the thick of a new adventure when a sexbot from the future becomes sentient and makes a dash for the past.
Unfortunately for the bot, her freedom is short-lived. It seems that other bots, when they grow sentient, come to the inevitable conclusion that humans are problematic and in need of solutions to better control them for the greater good. In general, bad things tend to happen to humans in these situations. So it’s up to our cast of characters to set things straight.
Like most Kindle Scout award winning books, this is a well-written story. It is a highly enjoyable time thriller. Click over to take a look and see if you agree.
